The Acer C7 Chromebook: Can it Thrive in an Increasingly Competitive Market?

December 10, 2012 in Computers, Reviews

Google

When large brands and corporations look to corner a specific market, their first step is often to create different versions of the same product and sell these within variable price ranges. This enables them to reach a wider consumer base and steal a competitive advantage over their rival firms. Google is the standard bearer when it comes to diversification, and it is just over one month since the brand released its high quality Samsung Chromebook. Despite being released to critical acclaim, this did not stop Google from releasing a budget alternative just weeks later, as the corporation sought to achieve [...]

Ebiznezz: Site Review

Website Homepage

The website here- http://www.ebiznezz.net/ is a well-presented and professional set of pages, that set out clearly and distinctly what the company has to offer. With a set of moving triptychs on the home page, you’ll quickly discover they offer a range of web-related and domain registration services, along with the sale of cameras and accessories. The web design is bold but not overpowering. The panels and banners are large and the home page has some movement which has been shown to be good for grabbing attention and persuading browsers to stay longer. The main colour used is a light green. [...]

E-book Shop Digica.biz: Site Review

Digicabiz Website Homepage

Digica.biz is an online e-book website. The first thing you notice about the home page is that there’s a lot going on. There are panes that have moving banners and adverts in them, and book covers that slide across, and this is in addition to other areas of static book covers, the navigation side panel on the left, and the drop-downs at the top. One might be forgiven for thinking that this would mean that the page would be too busy, and a turn-off, or rather a click-off. But I didn’t find that. In fact the motion was quite engaging [...]

Park and Shop: Site Review

Park and Shop Website Logo

One of things I love about this site (apart from the name which I think is way cool) is that when you come to the home page, it’s alive. There’s two windows showing what they are selling, one above one lower down the page. And they shift every two seconds or so. It should be intrusive and annoying but it’s not, it just feels straight away that this is a site that has got its act together. It’s an online store for iPad, iPhone and iPod accessories. And just in case you’ve been on the moon for the last few [...]

PR olloclip(tm) Combo 16 (12-2-11)

Olloclip is a must-have accessory for iPhone photographers Most professional photographers will always agree that the best camera is the one they have with them at any given moment. And the camera of choice for many people today is the ubiquitous iPhone4 or 4S. With the 5 megapixel image from the iPhone 4 and the 8 megapixel image from the 4S, many people don’t feel the need to carry a larger, more cumbersome camera any longer. One reason many people used to carry a DSLR camera was the need to use interchangeable lenses. So many scenes just cry out for [...]

Nokia 808 PureView Preview

Nokia PureView group

Nokia drew a lot of attention to itself on Friday when it released an advert for its upcoming 808 PureView filmed on the PureView itself. Watch the two minute video in high definition, and you’d be hard pressed to distinguish it from any other advert you might see on television. Of course there are differences between the quality of a film recorded by a top of the range television camera and one made with a mobile phone, but if you didn’t know in advance, they’re not ones you’d know to pick up on. The explanation behind the superior quality of [...]

What’s New with the New iPad?

2012-04-04-New-iPad-white-1

With the announcement of Apple’s New iPad (or iPad 3), the iPad 2 has suddenly dropped in price, and those buying an iPad for the first time are faced with a decision: to get the iPad 2 now that the 16GB version can be bought for as little as £329 (or £289 refurbished), or to pay the extra £70 for the equivalently-sized New iPad. It all rests on the differences between the two. Does the New iPad really bring us much that’s truly new, or is the unconventional name a way of disguising a lack of innovation? ‘Resolutionary’ The biggest [...]
